ALL GAMER BULLETIN: Server Browsers, New Challengers, and Love on the GO!

Attention Awesome Gamers!  All Gamer Bulletin in full effect, bringing you some of the latest and greatest in gaming news. Our first bit of hullabaloo is courtesy of the folks at Blizzard who revealed in a video earlier this week that they will be implementing custom servers for Overwatch. That means that finding specific game modes and maps will be a lot easier, all while still gaining that sweet sweet XP! My favorite announcement from the video will be the introduction of a brand new game mode: Capture The Flag! The long awaited game mode is finally here, large part due to the success of the Capture The Rooster game mode from the Year of the Rooster Event. For the full details, here’s the video!

Capcom had some big news today as they released a reveal trailer for their brand new  Street Fighter 5 character, Kolin. Kolin marks the second of six brand new characters, as yet to be revealed. The first was, of course, the lion maned raging demon himself, Akuma. However, in my opinion, with Kolin’s golden lochs, she has the better hair. 😛 She also has a diverse move set, with lots of close up rush down moves, and some good avoid and counters, and did I mention ice powers? Yup, it looks like Capcom created their own killer Princess Elsa, and she’s kicking butt to an awesome song by Lupe Fiasco featuring Salim called “It’s Not Design”. Kolin will be available at the end of the month, and seeing as I haven’t decided on who I am going to main at EVO, she is definitely worth looking into. Check out the full reveal video yourself. 😉

Pokemon GO and the folks at Niantic truly feel the love from all their dedicated Pokemon GO’ers, so to show their appreciation there is a special event happening right now to celebrate Valentines Day! That’s right, it’s happening NOW, and is scheduled to last until the 15th. You might have already received the special notification on your phone letting you know that during the Valentines Event you will be able to “earn more Candy, encounter an increased number of adorable pink Pokemon, and paint your town pink with Lure Modules that last six hours!” WHOA. I mean, don’t get me wrong, more pink Pokemon is cool,  Six hours for a lure module is just incredible! If you find the right spot, you can pretty much have an all day picnic. Or an all night bonfire! Thank you, Niantic! From the bottom of our Poke-loving hearts, thank you. <3

Anyway, that’s all for now. thank you for joining me on this first edition of All Gamer Bulletin. If you liked any of what you just read, or if this is the first time you’re hearing about it, please like, share and subscribe. Thanks again, and I’ll be sure to bring you more interesting news as soon as I hear about it! Take Care, God bless, and Game on!

Overwatch Celebrates the Year of the Rooster!

The Lunar New Year is in full effect in 2017 and the folks at Blizzard have once again cooked up something special for their Overwatch fans! We’re talking new skins, new emotes, stickers and much more! In keeping with the spirit of the lunar new year, prepare to see a lot of red and gold, and be sure to keep an eye out for a special feathered friend on the shoulder of our favorite beep-booping robo-pal!

There is also a  brand new brawl! Blizzard has finally brought capture the flag to Overwatch, special for the new year: Capture the Rooster! The development team worked hard to tweak and perfect the capture the flag game mode in order to blend and work seamlessly with Overwatch’s unique and diverse cast of characters. The end result is another fun filled action packed brawl that is sure to leave fans wanting more! Just remember: Defense is KING!

With such great things lined up, and for only a limited time, you know I had to get in on the action! But don’t worry, I didn’t keep the fun all to myself. I opened up 50 red lunar lootboxes to celebrate the year of the Rooster, and if you want to see what I got, then check it out for yourself!

Personally speaking, I am in LOVE with the Journey to the West skins for Zenyatta, Roadhog, Reinhardt, and Winston. Journey to the West is one of my favorite tales, and to see it represented in one of my favorite shooters is just fan service that I didn’t even know I wanted. So, thank you, Blizzard! If you’ve got a favorite skin, or sticker or voice line, write it in the comments and let us know! We’d love to hear from you!

It means NEW SKINS AND SPECIAL LOOT BOXES!!! In case you missed it, here’s the trailer!

However, unlike the Summer Special, the skins aren’t ONLY limited to being gained from loot boxes, they are now also purchasable! That’s guaranteed to please quite a few of the fans out there who don’t have the luxury to shell out the real world money for mucho loot boxes. Speaking of which, here’s a video of Yours Truly opening 100 loot boxes! Enjoy!

OVERWATCH News! Season 1 is officially done, what’s in store for Season 2?

That’s All Folks!

Well, it’s official. Competitive mode for Overwatch season 1 has officially ended today, with ranks and special player icons handed out accordingly. Blizzard released this text earlier this evening signaling the end of a truly groundbreaking, opening competitive round for their newest IP, Overwatch.

From beginning to end, Overwatch’s competitive first season was one for the record books. There were a lot of patches, both to the competitive game play and in the form of buffs and nerfs for multiple characters, all throughout this first season. From increasing the respawn time from 6 seconds to 8 seconds and introducing the 1 hero limit, to including buffs for D.Va and Zenyatta which completely changed the meta. All the way to introducing a brand new character – Ana, and changing the meta yet again, there’s no denying that Blizzard’s first season for Overwatch was one adrenaline rush of a learning experience filled with bullets, bombs, and two headed dragons!

Winter is coming, and it’s gonna be a Blizzard!

But, now what? I know there are a lot of players out there who are already reeling from the absence of a competitive mode. Quick Play is great, but after feeling the hunger of chasing competitive points to collect that golden gun, well, Quick Play just doesn’t cut it anymore. Well, worry not because Season 2 is just around the corner! And here is Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan to break it down and let you know what to look forward to in season 2!

Blizzard also released information this week about a new map, and a new game mode. This new map, Eichenwalde, which will be a combination of payload and capture the point play modes. Much like King’s Row, where players must first capture the point, which then releases a payload to be carried across the map, this new map will play in the same way. Except for Eichenwald, this process will be in reverse; first move the payload (which appears to be a battering-ram of sorts), and then once you reach the end, defend! For more info on this map, check out the videos below.

I personally enjoyed every minute of Overwatch’s competitive first season, and I’m excited to see what season 2 has in store. The new map, Eichenwalde, looks particularly interesting with all of its new flanking paths and choke points. Along with the promise of two new characters, Sombra and Doomfist, there’s a lot of big things in store for season 2, and Overwatch doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. 😉
